Trilateral Print Exchange Exhibition 2005 JAPAN

>>> Re-Identification <<<
Messages from 3 Studios

SPA proudly announce that the Trilateral Print Exchange Exhibition 2005 JAPAN will be held in October 2005 at the Celest Gallery on Kanagawa University Campus and Gallery OM, both located in Yokohama, Japan. Malaspina Printmakers Society (MPS) at Vancouver, Canada and Grafisch Atelier Utrecht (GAU) at Utrecht, Holland are the co-hosts.

The Exhibition is held under the theme "Re-Identification". It will be a good opportunity for both the artists and the audience to see personal reflection and re-assessment, that is, to re-identify themselves through the prints created by the artists from 3 countries.

The Exhibition travels to Vancouver, Canada October 2006 hosted by MPS; and to Utrecht, Holland May 2007 hosted by GAU.

To see the prints by the participating artists, click the Photo Albums at the right column below.

ALL RIGHTS RESEARVED.
DO NOT COPY ANY OF THE ARTWORK ON THIS PAGE AND IN THE ALBUMS.

Propositions

1) Number of Participants

Twenty (20) artists from GAU; twenty (20) artists from MPS; 25 artists from SPA.

As for Japanese participants, we need 25 to cover the gallery rent and other expenditure by their participation fee.
As for GAU and MPS, we need 20 participants from the viewpoint of gallery space and catalogue page construction.

2) Number and Format of Prints

The Exhibition shall take place in two galleries: Celest Gallery and Gallery OM. Each participant shall submit four (4) prints in the format as follows;

For the exhibition in Celest Gallery, each artist shall send 2 woks printed on a paper either 800 mm x 1000 mm (Large) or 600 mm x 800 mm (Intermediate) at her/his choice. Any image size is okay as long as it is printed on this paper dimension.
>>> We will place the print on a wood panel and cover it with plexiglass. The dimension of the display unit is either 800 mm x 1000 mm (Large) or 600 mm x 800 mm (Intermediate). If your paper is smaller than the display unit of your choice, we will slip in another paper behind the print to cover the backing plywood. If the paper is bigger, we have to trim it, which we would like to avoid.
>>> Please inform us the number of each display unit you need - large or intermediate - by mid April or any earlier.

For the exhibition in Gallery OM, each artist shall send 2 works respectively set in a mat 11" x 14" (Small). Any opening and image size fit in this mat is okay.

The image size of each format shall be the artist's choice.
Each artist shall send 2 large/intermediate prints and 2 small prints; that is, the total of 4 prints.

39.4 x 31.4 inches

Intermediate:
600 x 800 mm

>>>>> Options <<<<<<

- Artists who work only on the large format may send only large- and/or intermediate-format prints. She/he may send 2 large-format prints; or 1 large- and 1 intermediate-format prints; or 2 intermediate-format prints. It is the artist's option not to send small-format prints.

- Artists who work only on small format may send two 2 prints (matted) PLUS 2 prints (no mat) to be placed on a panel (large or intermediate) side by side, shown in Celest Gallery.
= It is the artist's option if she/he would send only two or four prints.

3) Exhibition Catalogue

SPA is making Exhibition Catalogue where one print of each participant would be included. Even if you are not interested in having the Catalogue and would not share the publishing cost, please kindly allow us to include the prints (one print per artist).

The cost to make the Exhibition Catalogue is US$4.00 per copy (A4 size, 65 color pages + 15 monochrome pages). The printing company is very helpful and gave us a great deal of discount. We just give them our text data (CV, work description, etc.) and the slides or CD data of our works.

MPS and GAU are encouraged to buy the Exhibition Catalogue. The minimum number of copies to order is 500 copies. The cost for 500 copies is US$2,000.

4) Slides or Digital Data of Prints to be Included in Catalogue

We need slides or digital data (CD) of the prints to be included in our Catalogue by mid April or any earlier. These should be of professional quality so that they can be used for the Catalogue. IN CASE any professional facilities or photographer is available, send the prints*; our photographer would take digital photos. Provide us Artist Vitae within ten (10) lines in English, via e-mail.

*If the print is of a small format, you will send the mat for the piece later, together with the other prints.

5) Guideline
Only prints with at least some original printmaking techniques will be considered.
